Friday 16th March 2018

11:30noon – 12:00pm – He Mihi Whakatau (Official Event Opening)

Invitation to all Spirited Women

We would like to extend a warm invitation to all competitors and whanau in this years event to formally attend a traditional Maori welcoming and acknowledgement. The mihi whakatau will also acknowledge the local Iwi and all sights of significance and toanga in the Whakatane Ohope region, which you could possibly get to enjoy and see throughout your journey.  
Please gather outside the main entrance. On arrival you will be met by a kaiawhina (support person) who will explain the tikanga(protocol) before you are called on. Tidy dress is appreciated. Kia piki te ora.

12:00-5:30pm – Event Registration Expo

  • Pick-up Teams Race Bibs, Electronic Timing Device & Spot Tracker
  • Collect Team Gift Box full of goodies and event merchandise (included in entry fee)
  • Sponsors Expo – try delectable samples, enter competitions and score some great deals on product from our sponsors.

NOTE: One team member can sign in and pick up team gear on behalf of all team members, however if there is a late change of team member, they must bring a completed copy of the Change of Team Member form with waiver, signed by the new team member. This form will be available here closer to the event and also emailed out in the final newsletter.

12:30-5:30pm – ‘Pre-race Rest and Relax’ & Post-race Restore’ Yoga classes (included in entry fee).  Bookings essential – see time slots below-

Online yoga bookings will close at midnight on Wednesday 28th February 2018 (2 1/2 weeks out from race day).

6:00-8:30pm – Release of Race Notes & Maps

Reception Lounge in the Whakatane War Memorial Hall – Short Street, Whakatane.

Team captains can collect Race Maps & Notes, plus the Support Crew Booklet 30 minutes before their race briefing.

This allows teams to briefly look at maps & notes and digest all the information prior to their allotted event category briefing time. Any questions teams may have will be answered at the race briefing.

Long Course Maps Released: 6:00-6:30pm
Medium Course Maps Released: 7:00-7:30pm
Short Course Maps Released: 8:00-8:30pm

NOTE: It is essential that one team member attend their race briefing, but we strongly recommend the whole team is present with supporter so we can explain any further details if needed and answer anyone’s questions.
